Meet the Maker
I'm Paul, the artist and designer behind InkSmithery. I create bold, geometric artwork inspired by mid-century modern design — clean lines, warm colours, and compositions that feel both retro and timeless.
I was born and raised in Lowestoft, on the Suffolk coast. I spent 24 years building a life and career elsewhere — good years, no complaints — but something kept pulling me eastward. I returned in my early forties and rediscovered the place with fresh eyes — the light on the water, the quiet stretches of coastline, the unhurried pace of a coastal town. Sometimes you need to go away to figure out where you belong.
Where the Style Comes From
The mid-century modern aesthetic takes me back to my childhood — those carefree days when summers lasted forever and your only real responsibility was getting home in time for tea. The bold shapes, the earthy palettes, the optimism baked into every design from that era. There's a warmth and simplicity to it that resonates with me, and I think it resonates with other people too.
Every design I create starts with that feeling. Whether it's a geometric landscape, a stylised monstera leaf, or an abstract cosmic scene, I want it to evoke something familiar — a sense of calm, a touch of nostalgia, a splash of colour that makes you pause for a second.
The Long Game
InkSmithery isn't a side hustle or a quick venture. It's a long-term project — a ten-year plan to build something that generates a genuine, sustainable income by the time I'm ready to step back from the day job. I work on it early in the mornings, late in the evenings, and in focused sprints at weekends. Every design uploaded, every product listed, every improvement to the shop is another small step towards that goal.
I believe in doing things properly. The designs are original, created with care and refined until they're right. The products are printed by professional production partners on quality materials — Bella+Canvas cotton tees, enhanced matte posters, gallery-wrapped canvas, ceramic mugs, soft polyester throw blankets. Nothing leaves the production line that I wouldn't be happy to receive myself.
How It Works
Everything in the shop is printed on demand. When you place an order, it goes straight to one of our production partners who print, pack, and ship it directly to your door. There's no warehouse full of stock, no bulk production runs, no waste. Each piece is made specifically for you.
Free delivery is included on every order to the UK, EU, and US. Most items arrive within 5 to 10 working days, depending on where you are in the world.
No Tracking, No Tricks
You might have noticed something different about this site — no cookie consent banner, no pop-ups asking you to subscribe before you've even seen what we sell, no third-party trackers following you around the internet. That's deliberate. I respect your attention and your privacy. You're here to look at art and maybe buy something. Everything else is a distraction.
